The history of the Dark Moon piece dates back to the Native American. This was a special hunting ground as well as a village for small group of Native Americans. Many artifacts have been found at the edge of this area.
There is a large field with a meadow and stream, and a nearby cedar forest. At the back of this preserve there is a large, deep deciduous forest of several sinkhole ponds and some swampy ares.
