Dedicated to preserving the natural and cultural heritage of the Appalachian Ridge and Valley Region of New Jersey

Beech Ridge / Caristi
Location:

Blairstown (Warren County)

Acreage:

64 Acres

Acquired:

Closed in April 2003. A Fee Simple Transaction. Partnering with Warren County and NJDEP Green Acres.

Features:
In this acquisition we have constructed a 1/2 mile look out trail and bridge. This trail winds through a mature beech forest as well as a marsh and stream. The floor of parts of this forest is covered in a carpet of wildflowers such as trout lily, dwarf ginsing, ferns, and solomon plume. There is a huge white oak nearly 200 years old that stands guard near the marshy area. Black bear and gray fox frequent this area as well as pileated woodpeckers , turkey, and other forest birds.
